Director, Indigenous Relations and Initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Indigenous relations strategy aligned with Innivec’s mission and values.
  • Lead the cultivation of strong relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate Indigenous perspectives and priorities into Innivec’s business practices, products, and services.
  • Provide guidance and support to Innivec staff on engaging with Indigenous partners in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner. 
  • Advocate for Indigenous rights and interests within Innivec and the broader business community, including participation in relevant forums and initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Indigenous-focused events, workshops, and initiatives to promote economic development and empowerment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Indigenous relations initiatives, tracking key performance metrics and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about Indigenous issues, trends, and best practices, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Indigenous Studies, or a related field (Indigenous Studies as an asset).
  • Indigenous background with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and traditions.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role focused on Indigenous relations or community development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving positive outcomes in Indigenous relations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to promoting Indigenous rights and interests.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • •Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
