Director, Indigenous Relations and Initiatives

Innivec is seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Director of Indigenous Relations to lead our efforts in building and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations. We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and business practices, along with prior experience in a leadership role focused on Indigenous relations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Indigenous relations strategy aligned with Innivec’s mission and values.
  • Lead the cultivation of strong relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations, serving as the primary point of contact.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate Indigenous perspectives and priorities into Innivec’s business practices, products, and services.
  • Provide guidance and support to Innivec staff on engaging with Indigenous partners in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner. 
  • Advocate for Indigenous rights and interests within Innivec and the broader business community, including participation in relevant forums and initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of Indigenous-focused events, workshops, and initiatives to promote economic development and empowerment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Indigenous relations initiatives, tracking key performance metrics and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about Indigenous issues, trends, and best practices, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Indigenous Studies, or a related field (Indigenous Studies as an asset).
  • Indigenous background with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and traditions.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role focused on Indigenous relations or community development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving positive outcomes in Indigenous relations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to promoting Indigenous rights and interests.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • •Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
