Grant Writer/ Specialist

Grant Identification and Research:

  • Conduct extensive research to find grant opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Stay informed about funding trends, guidelines, and eligibility from various sources.

Proposal Development:

  • Write persuasive grant proposals and applications.
  • Customize proposals to match specific funding requirements.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work with program managers, subject matter experts, and finance teams to gather necessary information for applications.
  • Ensure alignment between proposed projects and funder priorities.

Budgeting:

  • Develop accurate budgets in collaboration with the finance department.
  • Ensure budgets comply with funder guidelines.

Proposal Submission:

  • Manage timely submission of grant proposals with all required documentation.
  • Track the status of submitted proposals.

Relationship Building:

  • Maintain relationships with grant-making organizations and relevant stakeholders.
  • Attend events to network with potential funders.

Grant Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit reports detailing project progress and financial expenditures.
  • Comply with reporting requirements in grant agreements.

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Stay informed about legal and ethical considerations in grant writing.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations governing grant applications and reporting.

Grant Management:

  • Work with the program team to ensure effective implementation of funded projects.
  • Monitor grant timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Communications, Nonprofit Management).
  • Proven grant writing experience with a successful funding track record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Familiarity with various grant-making organizations and their processes.
  • Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial reporting.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Certification in grant writing or fundraising.
  • Experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific terminology and regulations.
