It offers career and academic programs covering the Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, Flight Attendant, and Business Administration sectors. To date, Eton College has trained almost 2,000 domestic and international students for careers in various services industries.

Job Summary:

The Manager of Business Development & Government Relations at Eton College will play a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders. This position will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, advocating for the college’s interests, and implementing strategies to promote Eton College’s mission and objectives. The Manager will collaborate closely with various departments and senior management to drive growth and enhance the college’s reputation in government circles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy to support Eton College’s goals and objectives.
  2. Build and maintain positive relationships with government officials, policymakers, and relevant industry associations.
  3. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that could impact the college and provide timely updates and recommendations to senior management.
  4. Represent Eton College in government meetings, industry conferences, and other relevant forums.
  5. Identify and pursue business development opportunities, including partnerships, grants, and government funding programs.
  6. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information, analyze policy issues, and develop effective advocacy strategies.
  7. Prepare and present reports, briefings, and presentations on government relations activities to senior management and other key stakeholders.
  8. Provide guidance and support to other departments regarding government relations matters and potential impacts on their operations.
  9. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues in government relations and business development.

Performance Measures:

  1. Successful implementation of the government relations strategy, including measurable outcomes such as increased engagement with government officials, successful advocacy efforts, and secured business development opportunities.
  2. Positive feedback and strong relationships with government agencies and stakeholders.
  3. Effective communication of government relations updates and recommendations to senior management.
  4. Timely and accurate reports, briefings, and presentations on government relations activities.
  5. Active participation in industry conferences and events.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Strong understanding of government relations, public policy, and regulatory processes.
  2. Excellent networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with government officials and stakeholders.
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  4. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze policy issues and develop effective advocacy strategies.
  5. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  6. Knowledge of the education sector and familiarity with relevant government programs and funding opportunities.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  8. High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when dealing with sensitive information and confidential matters.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as public policy, government relations, business administration, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in government relations, business development, or a related field, preferably within the education sector.
  3. Proven track record of successful engagement with government agencies, policymakers, and industry associations.
  4. Experience in developing and implementing government relations strategies and advocating for organizational interests.
  5. Strong knowledge of the legislative and regulatory landscape, as well as current political and policy trends.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $35,000 – $50,000 CAD annually
